NEW YORK OUD: NEW FRAGRANCE GUEST REVIEW
New York Oud; Crushing Velvet by Michael Davis
Bond No. 9 New York Oud is a modern Middle Eastern marriage of oud, roses and wood. Most scents provide a pleasant
fragrant background to the day but New York Oud is an experience in which you can languish in Arabian splendor. This latest release from Bond No. 9 feels like crushed velvet, warm skin, rose petals and satin pillows. It is a potent perfume that has quickly become one of my favorites in the Bond No. 9 catalog. Plums, oranges and saffron make a fleeting, sweet, warm introduction to a building crescendo of roses and oud. The addition of orris and patchouli in the heart add a calm, beautiful, glowing backdrop. One of my favorite aspects of the fragrance is how the oud opens the rose pushes the scent from the skin to envelop the wearer. The finishing touch of honey and musk add depth and sensuality making the scent something that I want to touch and taste. Longevity is one of NY Oud’s strong suits in that you can measure it in terms of days instead of hours. In my experience, a single spray can last almost two days on skin and over a week on fabric and clothing.
New York Oud’s amazing longevity is attributed to its 30-percent concentration.

New York Oud is a soul-deep honeyed kiss of a rose embraced by an oud enigma. A kiss that lingers for day and resurfaces in memories inspiring desire for more. A sensual dream of Arabia in a cityscape with rose gardens and forests of precious woods. Notes are: Top: Red plum, saffron, orange zest. Heart: Oud, rose, orris, patchouli. Base: Musk, honey, vetiver Reviewer’s Experience: Sprays: 1, Longevity: 24-36 hours, Sillage: Moderate to high, File under: Modern Oud

Great review by Michael Davis. Good to see a man’s viewpoint. Really enjoyed the “New York State of Mind” video. The video put me in the mood for a New York scent. I’ll be on my way to a Bond store today to test New York Oud.
wonderful review and video! New York Oud sounds wonderful, cannot wait to smell it. A New Bond, how exciting! The video made me homesick for New York and I think, is perfect for this fragrance.
I am so excited to try New York Oud..I am sure I will love it as much as all the other Bond fragrances!
I can’t wait to smell New York Oud! And also very impressed at a 2 day staying power!!
I tested this at Saks this past weekend. It was unbelievable. I recieved a sample vial and have enjoyed every minute of it. This is what an oud should smell like. I think it is perfect for men or women, it is a very sensual scent – perfect for Valentine’s day!!!
Oooh, ooh! I can’t wait to smell this! I am not a big, floral rose girl, but I have found that rose fragrances mixed with musk, oud, or patchouli do very well on me. This could be a future purchase to add to my small, but growing rose collection!

I love that this review talks about the longevity of the fragrance! I’ve been wearing their fragrances for years now, and the scent lasts so long. I don’t need any of the additional layering products, but they’re so good I can’t resist the lotion. And the candles. And the purse spray.
Perfect review to go with that heart touching video!!!! New York Oud will rule!
My husband loves this, we smelled it on Tony Perez from Belle Fleur last week.
Thank you for the great review and video from Michael Davis.
Please enter me in the Valentines Day draw.
I purchased New York Oud the moment it hit our Saks in Cincinnati and have worn it every day since, each day coupling it with another one of Bond No. 9′s scents and am more amazed at how much more in love with New York Oud I become! Blending it with Harrods for Her, or any of the Harrods, has become my favorite blend, although New York Oud stands well on its own! It’s become my “go to” Bond scent. I love it on men just as much as I do on myself! The different notes that sneak out as you pass by just exude the greatness and high quality that Bond No. 9 is known for!
Love this review! You had me at oud and longevity! I’m still having a love affair with Montauk, but I think there is room enough on my vanity for yet another beautiful bond fragrance/bottle.
What a wonderful review by Michael Davis…video is very touching. I almost cried. New York Oud sounds wonderful.
Michaels review was very sexy….can’t wait to get to Bond to get for my husband
Seeing as I’m middle-eastern, when I first smelled Oud, it instantly reminded me of home! Love it!
I love oud and rose, after taking some time to “acquire the taste” in my impoverished American nose for oud. Can’t wait to sniff this!
Great detailed review. The details have me excited ,and I cannot wait to smell this for myself!
Keeping in mind that fragrance, like taste in clothing, cars, art and so on, is a personal opinion, so although some notes in a fragrance may not sound your taste, you never know, it may be your new favorite. Don’t be put off from getting a sample and giving it a try, you never know.
This sounds like another smash hit for Bond and I cannot wait to get my hands on a sample, or visit a store soon (I live pretty far away from any Bond No. 9 stores).
I wonder what this, mixed with my all-time Bond favorite Coney Island, would smell like? Either way I want to give a Thank you to the brilliant perfumers at Bond No. 9 for creating a scent that I consider “my personality, bottled”, as well as continuing to release amazing scent after amazing scent and I am sure New York Oud will be no exception.
“Soul Deep Honeyed Kiss” great way to describe this scent. I’ve worn Oud in the past, but the scent always came across as too aggressive. Still I stayed a fan of the scent and would wear it at home just for my nose’s pleasure. Along came Bond with this creation and now my Oud love affair continues. Great review about one of my favorite perfumes and scents.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! Special thanks to Michael Davis for a review that was spot-on!!! You guys are fantastic and thanks for stopping by to take a moment to leave a comment.
You are all entered in the drawing to be conducted this coming Monday, Valentines Day. Once again, it is so much fun to read your comments, you are so creative and thank you.
Every word, carefully chosen; if descriptions could be emitted from the computer screen, this would be quite a heady one! The inclusion of Billy Joel’s video added the perfect note to an already-perfect series of notes. With great anticipation of this glorious-sounding fragrance, thanks Mr. Davis *.*
Such a fabulous review! NY Oud sounds like an Arabian night adventure!! Can’t wait to try it!!
Can’t wait to stop by and give it a test!! Every time I read this blog, I wish I had a Smell-o-vision screen. Someone needs to invent that.
Thank you for the beautiful review! I cannot wait to try this one!
Thank you for taking me through the journey this fragrance offers!
I am intrigued by the honeyed aspect of it. Oud is not a note I would seek out by itself, and neither is rose, but honey — that’s quite a different matter!
Please enter me in the draw!
I always look forward to each new scent roll-out because the fine folks at BOND haven’t disappointed me yet with their intriguing mixtures of intoxicating scents. OK, so I have to admit that my first scent purchase consisted of a much coveted bottle of ‘LOVE’S BABYSOFT’, but my senses have matured and once I was introduced to Eau de NoHo I knew I’d been spoiled for life. I consider myself a lucky gal to have an arrangment of beautiful bottles at the ready each day with scents to match my mood on any given day.
Thank you for the kind words everyone! I am pleased that you enjoyed the review and more pleased to see that New York Oud has so many admirers with more to come. NY Oud is one of the best scents I’ve worn in years.
I just received my sample of Bond No 9 New York Oud and I believe it’s the best fragrance in the line. It’s great scent for cocktails and dancing!
How could I not want to try this when you say it “feels like velvet, warm skin, rose petals and satin pillows”? Thanks for the evocative review. The notes really do sound like a winning combination for me.
I can’t wait to smell New York Oud. Sounds powerful.
Wonderful review, Michael! Congratulations!
I cannot wait to try this one. Sounds like it will wear well alone & layered.
I can’t wait for it to arrive next week! I love the fact that it’s 30% concentration, which means it will last until you bathe or shower it off! This will definitely win a Fifi Award!
I absolutely can’t wait to try this one out. I went over to our local Saks to see if they had samples, but they didn’t yet. That said, it was fun to chat with Saks’ Bond No. 9 expert (usually I encounter their Creed expert, which I find heartbreaking) and gush over our favorite Bond fragrances!
