Nuit de Noho by Bond No. 9
By Raphaella Barkley
I realize that I’m late to the game in sniffing Nuit de Noho for the first time, so let me explain. What called my attention to this popular fragrance was the recent release of Nuit de Noho’s new “dressed up” bottle. I saw the bottle up close and personal a few months ago in New York City and was instantly hooked by the stunning art of the bottle itself. And the dark blue crystal bottle with stars? A glittery show-stopper. But then I thought, what about the juice? That is so much more important than the bottle.
I have never really paid attention to Nuit de Noho before, even after many trips to the New York City boutiques and the San Francisco Saks Fifth Ave store. My first bottle of Bond No 9 was Chinatown and of course I had to have the Swarovski crystal bottle. I remember smiling to myself in the taxi back to the hotel, hugging my white and gold Bond No. 9 bag, with a feeling akin to illicit pleasure. I then progressed to the rosy West Side, to Wall Street for the high powered men in my life, the bubbly champagne of a fragrance; New York Fling, the delicate pretty paper-white Park Avenue, to the delicious tuberose of Harrods For Her, and on to Andy Warhol’s Success is a Job in New York, the warm intoxicating gourmand wrapped into an oriental base.
The press describes Nuit de Noho as a “downtown beauty that goes out a lot”. The new bottle is sleek and lacquer smooth – your “basic-black-for-the-holidays bottle” that is accented with Bond No. 9’s new chandelier see-through prism necklace topped with a crystal cap.
The New York City neighborhood of Noho is downtown’s culture magnet and is a vibrant and historic district that offers a diversity of commercial, educational, artistic, cultural and social activities. Noho also has the reputation for staying open all night and this makes it a hot-spot for the many night owls who flock to this neighborhood looking for great food, fantastic drinks and socializing with friends.
Nuit de Noho is a woman-only scent, a bold and modern contemporary fragrance that’s the ultimate in womanly wiles, a midnight blue of seduction and a super chic scent for a starry-starry night on the town. Simply, this is the stuff dreams are made of and conjures up images of starring in the hottest romance novel around.
Seductive and complex, Nuit de Noho has just become one of my new and undiscovered favorite perfumes. It has also made me realize that Bond No. 9 is truly original in its concept and that this world-renowned perfume house practices the high art of fragrance. Nuit de Noho takes the patchouli notes a step higher so that it’s not a clone of other fragrances, yet turns the patchouli into an interesting work of art.
Nuit de Noho is composed of Bergamot, Mandarin, Pineapple Leaves, Jasmin and Rosewood, which then melds into Vanilla, Patchouli and Musk for a perfect combination to make this fragrance an ultimate skin scent. The late, great Andy Warhol said; “Another way to take up more space is with perfume. I really love wearing perfume”. His words resonate for me in the beauty of wearing this fragrance.
This updated version of the Nuit de Noho bottle can never complain that it’s all dressed up with nowhere to go. The new bottle is definitely stepping out on the town, whether in Manolo Blahniks or your favorite holiday dress.
Nuits de Noho is featured for the Holiday Season in the Swarovski Perfume Token and in the gorgeous Berry Pocket Spray, coated in sparkling raspberry colored Swarovski crystals. It is also featured here in the full covered crystals. Nuit de Noho is also at all Bond Boutiques listed here:
